The technical and economic growth of digital environments allows new mediums for storytelling to create immersive narratives through properties such as video games and virtual dungeons of internet role-playing games. For instance, games such as The Sims series, are entirely dependent on players' choices for unique gameplay. The "sims" characters that we create in the game all live different lives, have different careers, and have different relationships with other sims. Such a way of gameplay offers total freedom for players to make their own life stories and make changes at any given moment. The game also offers players the pleasure of building detailed virtual places.

In other digital platforms, such as social media and media-sharing sites, exists new and innovative transmedia storytelling techniques such as ARG (alternate reality games). ARG is an interactive narrative that employs social media platforms to deliver stories that could be altered y players' choices and actions. In 2004, Microsoft created the I Love Bees campaign to promote the video game Halo 2. Initially acting as a hacked website with a mysterious AI, I Love Bees was designed as a form of viral marketing to involve players all over the world to work together in order to unravel clues and complete tasks.
